Our Story

A local travel desk for the Eastern Himalayas.

Holidaystraveller plans private journeys across Darjeeling, Gangtok, Nathula Pass and Sikkim. We are not a booking portal. We are the people who answer the phone, check the road and file the permits.

Why we started

The Eastern Himalayas reward unhurried travel and punish rushed planning. A trip here is shaped by things a booking engine cannot see: a road that closes after one night of rain, a permit that needs a photo ID you left at home, a pass at more than 4,300 metres that is open on Wednesday but not on Tuesday.

Holidaystraveller was set up to close that gap. Travellers kept arriving with itineraries that looked fine on paper and fell apart on the ground. They had four destinations squeezed into three days, no acclimatisation before Nathula, and no plan B for a monsoon landslide. We wanted to offer the opposite: fewer stops, realistic drive times, honest seasonal advice and one accountable local team.

What we believe

  • Pace over checklists. A night in Gangtok before Tsomgo Lake is worth more than an extra sightseeing point.
  • Plain truth about the mountains. If Nathula or North Sikkim is likely to be closed on your dates, we tell you before you pay, not after you arrive.
  • Quotes you can read. Vehicle, stay, permits and taxes are itemised, so you can see what you are paying for.
  • Respect for the places we work in. These are living towns, monasteries and sacred lakes before they are viewpoints.
Where We Work

Four territories, one ground team.

We focus on a small region so we can know it properly.

  • Darjeeling & the Kurseong ridge Tea estates, Tiger Hill sunrise over Kanchenjunga, the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and heritage stays.
  • Gangtok & East Sikkim Sikkim's capital, Rumtek and Enchey monasteries, and the base for every high-altitude day trip to the east.
  • Nathula Pass & Tsomgo Lake The border pass at about 4,310 m and the glacial lake on the way, both in permit-controlled areas.
  • North & West Sikkim Lachung, Yumthang Valley and Zero Point to the north. Pelling, Pemayangtse and the Kanchenjunga views to the west.
Our Team

The people behind your trip.

Every journey passes through the same four desks. You will know who is responsible for what before you travel.

[NEEDS APPROVAL: team member names, photos, languages spoken and years of experience. Only real staff, with their consent.]

  • Travel Planning Desk First conversation, route design and pacing Listens before quoting. Builds your day-by-day route around altitude, drive times and who is travelling, from toddlers to grandparents.
  • Permits & Documentation Protected Area Permits, ID checks, foreign national guidance Collects and checks your documents early, files permits through the registered channels, and tells you plainly when a sector is closed.
  • Ground Operations & Drivers Vehicles, drivers, daily road status Hill-country drivers who know the landslide diversions, the fog on the Darjeeling ridge and the early starts that high passes demand.
  • On-Trip Guest Care Support while you travel One coordinator and one phone number from arrival at Bagdogra or NJP to departure, so a change of plan never means starting the conversation again.
